WHITRAP Visited the Historic Towns and Villages in Meishan, China, with a UNESCO Delegation |

From November 23rd to 25th, 2017, accompanied by Ms. LIU Zhen, program specialists of WHITRAP Shanghai, and Mr. YU Bingjun, Ms. Dorine Dubois, Coordinator of Executive Office of UNESCO Assistant Director-General of Culture and Mr. WU Zhong, Special Advisor to the UNESCO Assistant Director-General of Culture, visited Meishan to discuss the preparation of an international UNESCO conference with the Meishan Municipal Government.
From the 23rd to 24th, accompanied by Mr. RAN Dengxiang, Deputy Mayor of Meishan City, the UNESCO delegation visited the ancient town of Jiangkou, Three-Su Temple, Hanyang Town, Xingfu Village, Fuxing Village and Hongxing Village. In the evening, Mr. MU Xinhai, Secretary of the CPC Meishan Municipal Committee, met with the delegation, and both sides reached a consensus on the 2018 International Conference on Culture in the Urban-Rural Framework (tentative name) to be held in Meishan. The conference will invite 150 well-known experts from all over the world, including around 80 foreign experts, to discuss the conservation of historic towns and traditional villages, rural rejuvenation and coordinated development of urban and rural areas, cultural heritage and innovative development, etc.
