Background
WHITRAP together with Sapienza University of Rome are pleased to announce that the Advanced course on Conservation and Restoration Techniques of Traditional Architecture in the Asia-Pacific Region 2014 will be held in 24 October – 2 November 2014.
WHITRAP has been organized a series of training courses since 2008, with the cooperation of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property
(ICCROM), the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO(Nara) (ACCU Nara), the International Understanding Education Center, the Raymond Lemaire International Center for Conservation of University of Leuven, the Shanghai Tongji University and other international organizations and research institutions.
This advanced course on Conservation and Restoration Techniques of Traditional Architecture in the Asia-Pacific Region has been successfully held four sessions. The course aims at establishing an academic platform where experts can share their professional knowledge in conservation and restoration of historic buildings, providing an overview of the various aspects of conservation and restoration of historic buildings in the Asian-Pacific Region.
For this year, the main topics are on (Tentative):
﹣ Trends and developments on conservation of historic buildings in a global context
﹣ Standards/principles/regulations on restoration and conservation of historic buildings in Italy and Asia
﹣ Administration management and maintenance work of Asian monument
﹣ Construction materials and restoration methods of historic buildings in Italy and Asia
﹣ The impacts of natural on conservation of historic buildings
﹣ Case studies of restoration and conservation of historic buildings in Italy and Asia
﹣ A study trip: historic buildings in Suzhou
