The World HeritageConservation and Development – the 20th Anniversary of the ClassicalGardens of Suzhou Inscribed on the World Heritage List Seminar, hosted bySuzhou Municipal Government, organized by Suzhou Gardens and Landscaping Bureauand academic supported by WHITRAP Suzhou, was successfully held in SuzhouNanlin Hotel on Sep.19, 2017. Over 200 experts, government officials andrepresentatives from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development,UNESCO Headquarters, UNESCO Beijing Office, State Administration of CulturalHeritage, Suzhou Municipal government as well as World Heritage sites aroundChina attended the seminar. UNESCO Assistant Secretary-General for CultureBandarin, Vice Minster Ni Hong of the Ministry of Housing and Rural-UrbanDevelopment, Deputy Director Gu Yucai of the State Administration of CultureHeritage made speeches at the opening ceremony. The Seminar aims to present theachievements in classical garden protection and development over the past 20years and bring together experts and heritage sites managers sharingconservation experience and exploring the better way to protect our commontreasure. UNESCO Assistant Secretary-General for Culture Bandarin and Directorof the UNESCO Beijing Office Oliveira highly praised the job done by Suzhou forthe glamorous classical gardens. |
