The International Symposium on the Organization and Operation of World Heritage Institute of Training and Research - Asia and Pacific and Opening Ceremony of World Heritage Institute of Training and Research - Asia and Pacific, Shanghai (WHITR-AP Shanghai) is co-organized by: the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, World Heritage Institute of Training & Research – Asia and Pacific, Shanghai (WHITR-AP Shanghai), ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) and Tongji University. The Symposium will be held in May 21-22, 2007 in Tongji University, Shanghai, P.R.China, at the occasion of Centennial Celebrations of Tongji University. The Symposium aims to hold discussions on the organizational and operational system of the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research –Asia and Pacific (Shanghai), which is hosted in China and has a focus on the Asia-Pacific Region, and to consult on its training programs and relative activities. The Symposium will open discussions on the following topics: 1.The operation of training programs and the development of training base; 2.The selection and operation of joint research projects; 3.Establishment of partnerships and various cooperation relationships; 4.Fund-raising and fund management; 5.Visibility and promotion;
