After the ‘512’ earthquake, the World Heritage Administrative Office in Dujiangyan City reported the damages of World Cultural Heritage, Mount Qingcheng and Dujiangyan Irrigation System, to UNESCO WHC, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, Municipal Heritage Administrative Office and relevant departments. The local government managed to obtain the emergency assistance fund of 40,000 US$ from UNESCO WHC for the post-disaster report, capacity training, evaluation preparation, humanitarian relief and office facilities etc. After having got formal permission for emergency assistance projects, the local government collected all the relative materials to prepare for the Post-earthquake Evaluation immediately. Considering the leading role that the Post-earthquake Evaluation would play in the implementation of reconstruction, the Administrative Office invited specialists from WHITR-AP (Shanghai) to compile the Post-earthquake Evaluation Report. On the basis of regular on-site studies and discussion with related departments, the professionals have finished the Post-earthquake Evaluation. Nowadays it has been submitted to UNESCO Office Beijing. Brief introduction of the Post-earthquake Evaluation is available at: http://www.whitr-ap.org/en_research_detail.asp?id=7 |
