Patrimonito’s World Heritage Adventure Storyboard Competition (Asia-Pacific Region) is organized by WHTRAP under the auspices of UNESCO (Suzhou) and China Art Science Technology Research Institute aiming to promote the education of the world heritage. It is ten years since the “World Heritage in young hands (CN)” was published. Based on this, these two organizations decided to sponsor this activity to create an international brand program to maintain the pioneering spirit of the youth, through the form of animation which is very popular, creative and suitable for the youth.
World Heritage Adventure Storyboard Competition once was carried out around the world by UNESCO, and was very popular with the youth. The 2010 Patrimonito’s World Heritage Adventure Storyboard Competition was organized by WHTRAP of UNESCO and Wonderful Cultural Art and has received recognition for its great achievements.
In order to strengthen the youth’ awareness of World Heritage, the WHTRAP under the auspices of UNESCO and China Art Science Technology Research Institute jointly organized the 2011 World Heritage Adventure Storyboard Competition for Asia-Pacific Region. Based on the traditional methods, the organizing committee has added things which are suitable for the actual situation of education in Asia-Pacific region to create the World Heritage Adventure Storyboard with the unique characteristics of the youth of Asia-Pacific Region.
•Principle This activity aims to disseminate the knowledge of World Heritage in Asia-Pacific Region and explore diversified and stereoscopic methods on the education of World Heritage. It helps strengthen the youth’s awareness and capability of protecting World Heritage by leading them to think over the current situation of World Heritage in the creative process.
•Feature This activity introduces the cartoon storyboard which is very popular with the youth, collects the works in the Asia-Pacific region and then makes it into cartoons by the professional cartoon company. Students in primary and secondary schools in Asia-Pacific take part in this activity together. During the process, they acquaint themselves with many World Heritage sites and the poor situation the sites facing. Through this activity, the youth create their own Patrimonito’s World Heritage Adventure Storyboard and their awareness and capability of the conservation of the World Heritage will be improved.
