The Secretary-General of WHITRAP, Prof. ZHOU Jian, announces the appointment of Dr. Simone RICCA as new ViceDirector of WHITRAP Shanghai from October, 2017. Simone RICCA graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic School of Turin (Italy), obtained a Master of Science Degree in Architectural & Urban Conservation at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), and a Ph.D. in Politics at Exeter University (United Kingdom). He has lived and worked as a conservation architect in the Middle East for many years before moving to Paris, where he established a private Consultancy Company (RC Heritage) in 2008. Simone RICCA has worked as a consultant in Asia, Africa and Europe, collaborating with UNESCO World Heritage Centre and other international organisations (ICCROM, Aga Khan Trust for Culture, World Bank, etc.) involved in the implementation of the 1972 World Heritage Convention. With RC Heritage, he has notably supported the drafting of a series of World Heritage nomination files for different State Parties, supervised the elaboration of management plans for major cultural heritage sites and cultural landscapes (many included on the World Heritage List), and organized technical training courses on architectural conservation and on the implementation of the World Heritage Convention for NGOs, local and national governments, and international organisations. |
