April 23 is the World Book and Copyright Day. To celebrate this day, WHITRAP Shanghai, together with Tongji Library, has conducted a series of campus campaigns to promote world heritage in China . Associate Professor LI Jianzhong made presentations in several universities and colleges. He illustrated some famous world heritage sites, their historical backgrounds, and related conservation activities around the world. Many basic concepts, such as world heritage, Outstanding Universal Value, Authenticity, Integrity and heritage category etc, were introduced during lectures. Prof. LI also pointed out that how the world societies gathered together to save the heritage by telling the story of Egypt Abu Simbel , and the establishment of world heritage organizations. He solicited us “To save the heritage around us by media and advanced technologies” .More information about how World Heritage sties in China were nominated as well as the relationship between urban development and conservation were presented. Students and teachers thought the lectures were meaningful and vivid by abundant cases and stories. On behalf of WHITRAP Shanghai, Prof. LI gave some books to Libraries he visited.
