| The ICCROM Forum is a biennial initiative and aims to share the latest, contemporary thinking on trends and current conservation issues which affect the management and conservation of cultural heritage. The 2007 edition of ICCROM’s International Forum, on “Privatisation and Cultural Heritage” will take place in Catania, Sicily (Italy), from 13th to 15th September 2007, under the auspices of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO. It is crucial today to consider the effective role of the public sector in the management of cultural heritage as well as in its conservation and restoration: it is the role of the public sector in this field that is staked in the different regions of the world. At the same time it is important to call attention to the role of the private sector and its contribution: is it possible that the function of the public institution is changing and that the private sector can assume a different possible in the management of cultural heritage? It is to open one common platform of reflection on these topics that ICCROM invite the community of experts in the fields of cultural heritage, legislation and economy.
