ABOUT THE COURSE:
Introduction
Learn about global trends and best practices in revitalizing historic urban and rural landscapes through heritage, art and culture. Gain fresh perspectives to bring new life to these often marginalized areas. Go beyond conventional planning and development approaches to leverage the character and socio-ecological systems of these unique places, in the spirit of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL), MONDIACULT and the post-SDGs.
The workshop will feature the case study of Langtou, a 700-year-old ancient Lingnan village in Guangzhou. In 2025, Langtou was recognized as the first rural revitalization project from China at the Venice Architecture Biennale, resulting from the partnership of Atelier FCJZ and Guangdong Vipshop Philanthropic Foundation.
